"Really, really, really awesome! When can we go back again"? Parker, age 6

"It's Fun"!  Connor, age 3

Yesterday my family and I took a trip to the Learning with Grammy Hands-on Education Center in the Kidz Korner at the Chambersburg Mall. Having never been there before, I was pleasantly surprised by the large play area the center had as well as how many activities there were for the kids! As a mom of 3 very rambunctious boys, I am always looking for ways to entertain them and tire them out. Well I had found my entertainment, that's for sure! My kids were so interested in everything that the center had to offer that they weren't focused on anything else! The smiles and happiness on their face showed me how much they really did enjoy the trip.

Upon walking in, I met Terry, the owner and founder of Kidz Korner and the Learning with Grammy Education Center. Terry was working as a nurse before settling down and having a family. Being a stay at home mom allowed her to pursue her passion for childcare by opening up her own in home daycare. She was so successful that she ended up managing multiple daycare centers and retiring after 20 years in the business. Even though she had finished working in child care, Terry did't want to give up contributing to the families of Franklin County! That was how the Kidz Korner was founded. I was happy to hear that this center was aimed for families to spend time together learning without electronics or distractions. This is a great spot for family bonding time!

Some of the best attractions were the archaeological dig, the gardening area so kids can learn about seeds and grow their own plants, as well as the block and puzzle section that was a huge hit with my oldest. As you can see above, my son Connor had a blast rolling the ball down the hill. I was encouraged to ask him how the other balls that were available would roll if they were in the same situation and why. Every activity center has a specific learning schema that is exercised and strengthened through play! By far my favorite part was the Little grocery store area because grocery shopping is my favorite part of the week, and Connor was really into the shopping carts!

There are so many activities in the Learning Center that the 2 hour play period won't give your child enough time to try all the awesome activities! That's why Macaroni Kid is going to meet once a month at the Learning Center on the 3rd Saturday of each month from 6 to 8 pm starting in August! This will allow everyone to be able to enjoy everything the Learning Center has to offer. I can say that I was impressed with the thought put behind all the activities, and am looking forward to going back in August! Hope to see you there!
