Breaking: Hidden Gem found on Chambersburg's Main St!

You must see this toy store for yourselves, I can guarantee you and your kids really will experience wonder here time and time again! Now you can stop by for our Macaroni Kid event at Toy Box on Dec. 1st from 6 to 8pm to experience this amazing store for yourself at a discount!

I am not originally from Pennsylvania, I actually came to Franklin County in 2015 from California and was completely unfamiliar with the territory and local businesses. Becoming publisher of Chambersburg Macaroni Kid has allowed me to experience things I have never dreamed of, like this toy store! I first came across Toy Box while scrolling through Facebook and seeing a video that Downtown Chambersburg did while visiting the store! I saw the amazing dinosaur display in the front window and knew I had to go there! My oldest son is in love with dinosaurs and knows quite a bit about them so I wanted my family to join me on this trip. Unfortunately, my oldest Parker wasn't able to make it in that day but my 3 year old son, Connor, came with me and had more than a blast! The owner Kristen is so super sweet and great at what she does. You can tell how much effort and time went into creating the layout of the store and it really shows through. The toy store was intimate but spacious, with tons of activities and displays set up for kids! As soon as I walked in I knew Connor was going to gravitate to the car section they had set up for kids to play with and explore!

Sure enough, there he was totally engrossed with these Modarri Cars. He loved them so much I knew I had to get one for my oldest son who would be able to build the car for Connor and let him play with it. I'd love to take a pause right here and do a Modarri Car review because Parker, Connor, and I all loved the concept and the brain building activity that is involved when building a Modarri Car (pictured in the center photo). I have never seen or heard of these cars until coming to Toy Box, and I was so happy that I found them! Each interchangeable piece has small screws that do not detach (there are no small loose parts unless handled extremely rough, then the screws have the potential to pop off) that connect with each other using a small screwdriver to screw the pieces together. At Toy Box, there are so many different types of cars in stock, and if you have kids like mine who love engineering and vehicles, this is a great Christmas gift opportunity! Even with the one car that my kids got, Parker has spend countless hours screwing and unscrewing parts so that the cars never look the same! Come by our event on Dec. 1st to pick up a Modarri Car set for a discount (details to follow)!

Throughout the store, I was amazed at the selection the Toy Box had of Melissa and Doug toys and so much more. From puzzles, books, and learning toys, to fun and interactive family games, a plush adoption center, and lots and lots of dinosaurs! The Toy box specialized in non-battery powered toys that don't require anything more than a child's imagination to bring them to life. I love that mission statement because I know what it's like to have a son with a sensory sensitivity, and throughout the store soft music was playing, but other than the toys were quiet which I actually appreciate with a 1 year old at home. Connor and I explored more of the store and saw that there was a train table set up with model trains in the back of the store! Knowing Connor, he was going to pull up a chair to work on the train table and that's exactly what he did! He played with the trains for 20 mins until I was able to get him to come over to the thinking putty area where staff at Toy Box was helping kids make glow-in-the-dark thinking putty (which is similar to play=dough texture wise)! Connor had so much fun mixing the colors and making the thinking putty glow!

Overall, I have to say that this is the BEST toy store I have ever been to, and thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Toy Box.  I would love for all my readers to experience Toy Box with the Macaroni Kid Family and enjoy 10 percent off your purchase plus a $5 gift card with your purchase! We will be meeting at Toy Box on Dec. 1st at 6pm to play, shop, and enjoy supporting local small businesses along the way! I am so happy to be able to share this experience with you and really hope to see you and your kiddos there! If you get the chance to stop by ahead of time let the staff know Macaroni Kid sent you! I highly recommend this toy store to parents for the comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and great prices! Thanks everyone!
